Pique Announces Comeback to Football After Previous Decision to Leave

Gerard Pique, the former Barcelona defender, has declared his intention to re-enter the world of football, this time in a coaching capacity.

This announcement came through his official Twitter account, where he conveyed his longing for the sport. Pique, who retired from professional play in January 2023 at the age of 36, has now chosen to make a comeback to football in a different role.

In his statement, Pique said, “After much contemplation this new year, I’ve realized how much I miss the sport. However, I will be returning not as a player, but in a coaching role. I plan to reveal more details by the end of this week.”

During his distinguished playing career, Pique made a total of 616 appearances for Barcelona. His achievements include winning LaLiga nine times, the Copa del Rey seven times, the FIFA Club World Cup three times, and the UEFA Champions League three times, once with Manchester United. Additionally, Pique was a key member of the Spain national team that triumphed in the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship.
